I ran accross this passage in Hebrews 13:5,
"Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU,"
The Lord spoke to my heart...it is not what you have it is WHO you have. The presence of Christ is the perfect answer to contentment. I am in the process of restoring my life. I have lost everything. I am practically homeless but I have Christ and His presence is key. What a promise. He has been faithful to me providing through His body and my family.
Philippians 4:10-13 states that contentment is the key:
10But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at last you have revived your concern for me; indeed, you were concerned before, but you lacked opportunity.
11Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.
12I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need.
13I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
Look at the promises presence of Christ again in verse 13. I can do ALL things through CHRIST who strengethens me.
What a glorious truth...finding contentment in Him...finding satisfaction in Him...and know that He knows what we need before we ask Him.
Matthew 6:25-33 gives the cure for anxiety--Seeking Him and His righteousness first and God will take care of the rest.
25"For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
26"Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?
27"And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?
28"And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin,
29yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.
30"But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!
31"Do not worry then, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear for clothing?'
32"For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
33"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
